We have made a good start to the shearing for 2014 and have finished all of our females. This includes those pregnant with delivery dates this summer, so it was good to get them done now since it is not wise to shear them too close to the due date.
There is now a pile of fleece awaiting further attention in terms of sorting and processing. Here Holly our dog is counting the bags for us from the first group. It is always useful to have help when you’re shearing!
I managed to get to them before they got too hot and started rolling more regularly, which adds fine dust to the fleece that makes the shears sing – and go blunt quicker.
